Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
Newsletter Week 2
A Prayer for Our Children
Most loving Father, the example of parenthood,
teach us what to give and what to withhold.
Show us when to reprove and when to praise.
Make us gentle and considerate yet firm and watchful.
Keep us from weak indulgence, or from great severity.
Give us the courage to be disliked sometimes by our children,
when we must do necessary things which are displeasing to their eyes.
Give us the imagination to enter into their world
in order to understand and guide them.
Give us all the virtues we need to lead them by word and example
in the path of righteousness.
Mothers’ Day Stall
The Mothers’ Day stall will be available this Thursday. Gifts are all $8 and can be paid online or by sending in the money.

P & F BUNNINGS BBQ - Volunteers required
When: Sunday, 15 May
We have the day all organised and everything ordered, all we need now are some volunteers to cook and/or serve the sausage sandwiches, This is a great way to connect with other parents from our school. If you can spare an hour or two, please contact Louise in the office (4229 1818). All money raised comes back to supporting the learning of your children.
Cross Country Team
Last Wednesday, we ran our school cross country carnival through the school grounds. Mr Timpano did a great job, creating a course that was both safe and challenging, allowing us to select a school team. The Diocesan Cross Country was then postponed to May 24. Good luck to the team who are now having regular training sessions with Mr Timpano. A huge thank you to Mr Timpano for stepping in and doing a great job.
Congratulations Jemison (6B) & Hunter P (5G)
Both Jemison & Hunter were successful at-the Diocesan Rugby Union Trials held last Friday. This is an awesome achievement! They will now represent our school and Diocese at the MacKillop trials being held in Forbes later this month.

Building Update
While there appears to be little change from the street, progress inside is quite extensive with joinery going into many of the classrooms and plastering happening in the rooms at the church end of the building. Work recommenced on the ramp and stairs behind the canteen which is a very visible sign that things are progressing.
Staff Professional Development
During this term, teachers will be released from class as they participate in professional development. The first area will be EAL/D Phasing which is plotting students from a non-English speaking background on a continuum so that their needs are identified and targeted within the classroom setting and with specialist support if necessary.
The second area is the continuation of our work with Patricia Rose, Instructional Coach, on the Reading process. This involves looking at best practise strategies and supporting teachers to gain the best possible outcomes for their students.
NAPLAN 2022
Year 3 and 5 students will complete these assessments between May 10 and 20. Exact dates have been sent to Year 3 & 5 families. While this provides just a snapshot in student progress, we do wish all students well in completing these assessments.
Kiss & Collect
Thank you for the continued support from parents not arriving early. Issues raised by local residents, police & council rangers have pretty much disappeared. Remember Kiss & Collect commences at 2.50pm with nearly all students picked up within 20 minutes. Please pass this on the grandparents or carers who may do the pickups.
Mobile Phones / Smart or Game Watches
Just a reminder that these devices should not be brought to school. If parents require their children to have a phone, it must be handed in at the office in the morning and collected at the end of the day.
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 students will travel to Fitzroy Falls next Wednesday for their 3 day adventure camp. This is an awesome opportunity made available to the students by the generosity of Mr Timpano and Mrs Devine - no overtime is paid in the teaching profession!!

School Uniform
We are currently in a transition phase from Summer to Winter uniform. During this time, either uniform can be worn, depending on the weather. Whichever unifrom is chosen, it should be the full uniform - NOT a mixture of both.
School Photos
School photos are scheduled for Wednesday 25th May 2022.
This year, all students are expected to be in their FULL WINTER UNIFORM.

WONDER RECYCLING REWARDS
Once again this year we will be participating in the Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools initiative.
The Wonder Recycling Rewards programme is a fun and easy program created to collect and recycle soft plastics and bread tags that might otherwise go to landfill, and earn rewards points to redeem on new sports equipment for our school.
Once collected they can be placed in the special collection box in the Library (Year 3 classrooms)
The campaign closes 9 September.
Thanking you in advance
Ms Elizabeth Pellizzari
