International Women’s Day
March 8
Last week was International Women’s Day. This prayer is worth sharing on such a significant and worthwhile occasion.
“Let Us Build A Church”
We pray together as a family of the faithful, with the vision of a Church community, that at its core upholds the full equality of all of its members. So that our daughters and yours, may know radical inclusion and justice, equality without qualification, and an institution that transforms oppression into love without bounds.
A Church that recognizes that all people are created in God's image and equally endowed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the common good.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that celebrates the witness and contributions of our foremothers in faith – those in Scripture, those in our tradition, and those who walk with us today.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that celebrates and promotes a spirituality that recognizes an inclusive God, beyond gender, and incorporates language that is inclusive in liturgy, doctrine, and pastoral practice.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that takes a firm and proactive stand opposing all forms of exploitation and violence perpetrated against women.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that advocates for social structures that support and sustain the basic needs of women including access to clean water, clean air, adequate housing, food, security, education, the workforce, political and social engagement, and freedom of movement.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that works to dismantle oppressive structures and customs that disproportionately impact women creating inequality in pay, employment opportunities, development of public policy, and property ownership.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.A Church that commits to reflect on its own participation in the oppression of women; to repent for unjust acts, systems, and teaching; and to renew structures of leadership to be more inclusive of the People of God at every level.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
School Update
There has been a lot impacting on schools over the past few weeks.
We have had a number of staff and students impacted by covid and this appears to be an ongoing issue at the moment. As stated previously, while cases are up, severity has been mild in nearly all cases.
Wet weather has forced students indoors much more than we would like but I must congratulate the students on how well they have adjusted to this situation.
The flow-on effect from all the rain is that both the Little and Big Banks are currently unusable. With grass up to my knees, it won’t dry out in a hurry while at the same time it’s too wet to mow - a perfect ‘Catch 22’ situation.
This means that while the students are outside, space is severely restricted. Once again, I congratulate the students on their ability to adjust and make the most of a difficult situation. Building works are continuing which is most noticeable by the added noise as they move back to completing outside works. The noise is another constant that we are all adjusting to. I would like to acknowledge the work of the St Therese staff during these challenging weeks. Through all this, Meet & Greet and Personalised Planning meetings have been held, liturgies and sporting events are continuing and great learning is happening in all classes.
Cross Country Carnival
We hope to be able to set a date in the next couple of days. The track at Integral Energy Park, West Dapto is still too wet to make a definite call on when it will be usable again. An alert will be sent to parents once we can confirm a date.
Uniform Expectations
Reminder to parents that according to our uniform policy, nail polish, dangly earrings or rings (apart from a simple signet ring) are not part of our uniform. Students are asked to wear their hats to and from school. There are also a number of boys with fringes well down past their nose, this appears to be a constant distraction to them.

Congratulations Hendrix (4B)
Hendrix was selected to represent Illawarra Baseball in the Rookies Cup held in Manly last Sunday. Hendrix played in 4 games - each lasting 70 minutes! At the end of a tough day, Hendrix was awarded “Player of the Day”. What an awesome achievement!!
Highlight: Hendrix wowed the crowd by catching a fly ball by sliding on his knees. The crowd gave him a roaring cheer!
