Remote Learning Continues
Last Friday’s announcement that lockdown and remote learning would continue well into Term 4 was a significant blow to the spirits of most staff, parents and students. Personally I feel the weight of Coronavirus impacting upon every thought and decision - can we do this, can we go there, is there much point planning, and the questions go on … and if its not the questions, it’s the TV or radio constantly reminding us that we are in lockdown!
I know that exercise plays a big part in my own mental wellbeing as well as listening to music as opposed to news reports is also cathartic. Last Sunday, my wife and I walked the Wadi Wadi Track near Stanwell Park. It was such a beautiful day and the longest drive I have been on for months (and this is definitely something that I have missed!).
I’m in a very lucky and privileged position in that, when I need some inspiration and something to lift my spirits, I can go out into the playground during recess or lunch and listen to some of the stories of the children. The excitement in their voices and the sense of wonder that we as adults tend to lose sight of.
As we continue this arduous journey together, take some time for gratitude, look at the blessings in our lives and in those closest to us. As we enter into the first month of Spring, which is a time of warmth, sunshine and new life, let’s set our sights on the end of October when there will be a step towards normality once again, there will be a light at the end of this tunnel we are in. Together, we can do this!
Wellbeing Wednesday
There were so many great photos sent in last week to show some of the achievements from Wellbeing Wednesday. Keep up the great work and keep the photos coming in.
Summer Uniform
With the Season of Spring starting today, we can look forward to increasingly warm days ahead. Over the next few weeks, students onsite can choose whichever uniform they are most comfortable in. From the beginning of Term 4, we will formally move into the Summer uniform for all students.
Excursion Fees Credit
Unfortunately, many of the excursions that were planned for this year have had to be cancelled. Many teachers had been looking to reschedule into Term 4, however even when we return, Level 3 restrictions will still impact on what we can do. For most families, this will appear as a fee credit on your school fees statement. Louise Locke will be in contact with families leaving from Year 6 who have already paid their fees in full to organise a refund into their bank account.
Student Attendance during Remote Learning
All students from Kinder to Year 6 must check-in each day AND submit some work to be marked Present for that day. Where no work is submitted, teachers will be contacting parents and a record of absence may be recorded.

BOOK WEEK & NSW Premier's Reading Challenge News 2021
NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge finishes this Friday 3rd September.
Congratulations to the following students who have recently completed their PRC:
Louis Motoori KB
Elena Comino KB
Karen Motoori 2B
Carissa Comino 2G
Due to recent lockdowns, some rules for the PRC Challenge have been updated: https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/rules.html
Two of the recent changes will help students complete their PRC Challenge:
- Students are now allowed to enter 10 personal choice books which are any book he/she has read (or had read to them for K-2) since last September
- Students on all Challenge levels will be able to include books on their reading records that they read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parents/carers.
This means that you and your children can listen to a book from your grade selection being read online and it will count for your PRC book count. YEAH!!!! Here's the link for the PRC list - see link: https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/booklist/home.html
