Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
A Prayer for Mother’s Day
On this special day set aside to honor mothers we ask for aspecial touch from the Lord for each and every one of them.May each mother in this room be granted a special blessing, and may all of the work of her hands not be forgotten in Your sight.Let her example to her children be a guiding force in their lives, and may wisdom be passed down to the next generation of mothers. Amen
Leadership Course
I will be away again on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. This will be to attend a 2 day course with some other Principals from the diocese. Mrs Dimitra Vezinias will be available if there are any issues.
Mothers’ Day Stall
Reminder that this stall will be held tomorrow. As grade groups, children will be taken to the hall to choose their gift for mum. Children will all have the opportunity to choose one gift initially. Once all grades have had the opportunity to purchase, children who have paid for more than one gift will be invited back to the hall. Gifts are all $8.00 which can be sent in tomorrow with your child or you can pay online via TryBooking (instructions in this newsletter).
Mothers’ Day Liturgy
Scheduled for 10.30am on Friday. This liturgy has been planned for the assembly area however, if this proves to be too wet, it will move into the hall with just Kinder and Year 1 present. All mothers are welcome to attend. After the liturgy, morning tea will be served in the hall. (We currently have a couple of dads who have volunteered to serve but would be happy to hear from a few more who have an hour to spare!)
Raincoats
Just a reminder that all children should have a raincoat in their bag. Yesterday as the weather changed, we had a lot of children leaving the school without any protection. Umbrellas are not acceptable as they are quite dangerous with the numbers of children that we have.
Athletics Carnival
This event is scheduled for Wednesday, 19 May. Please log onto the Compass Portal to complete the online permission slip. We are also looking for more parents to assist with the running of the carnival - this can also be indicated via the Compass Portal.
St Therese Cross Country
It was great to see all the children showing off their long distance running skills at last weeks cross country carnival at Kembla Joggers. The children were in fine form from year 6 all the way to kindergarten. It was also great to see all the children support each other as they were running.
A special thank you to all the parents and great parents who put their hand up to help on the day. On behalf of the children and staff we appreciate your help.
Maurice Bernardi
Diocesan Cross Country
Last week I had the privelege of taking the team to Nowra to particpate in the Diocesan Cross Country. The children all ran to the best of their abilty, as it was a tough course. They were all very supportive of each other throughout the day. A big thankyou to all of the parents and grandparents, and especially those who volunteered as course marshalls on the day.
Congratulations Zeke Thompson 6B
Zeke travelled to Canberra last week for the Hockey Mackillop Trials. Zeke was successful and will now represent our school, diocese and half of NSW Cathools when he competes at the PSSA Championships later this term. This is a huge achievement and we wish Zeke well as he prepares for this event.
Year 5 Da Vinci Decathlon
Good luck to our team of 8 students competing via ZOOM tomorrow in the State Championships - an awesome achievement regardless of the outcome which they won’t hear until the following Thursday, May 13.
