Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
We pray together as a family of the faithful, with the vision of a Church community, that at its core upholds the full equality of all of its members. So that our daughters and yours, may know radical inclusion and justice, equality without qualification, and an institution that transforms oppression into love without bounds.
A Church that recognizes that all people are created in God's image and equally endowed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the common good.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that celebrates the witness and contributions of our foremothers in faith – those in Scripture, those in our tradition, and those who walk with us today.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that celebrates and promotes a spirituality that recognizes an inclusive God, beyond gender, and incorporates language that is inclusive in liturgy, doctrine, and pastoral practice.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that takes a firm and proactive stand opposing all forms of exploitation and violence perpetrated against women.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that advocates for social structures that support and sustain the basic needs of women including access to clean water, clean air, adequate housing, food, security, education, the workforce, political and social engagement, and freedom of movement.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that works to dismantle oppressive structures and customs that disproportionately impact women creating inequality in pay, employment opportunities, development of public policy, and property ownership.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
A Church that commits to reflect on its own participation in the oppression of women; to repent for unjust acts, systems, and teaching; and to renew structures of leadership to be more inclusive of the People of God at every level.
R: Let us build a Church for our daughters.
Parents on Site
A letter was sent home last Friday with the latest Covid restriction updates. While the letter stated that parents are allowed onsite to drop-off or pick-up students, the time frame is limited to what you are doing - meaning that it is not possible for parents to just sit around in the playground before or after school. Thank you for your ongoing support with these restrictions.
Cross Country Carnival
This event is still planned for Thursday, 18 March at West Dapto. Parents will be allowed to attend and support your child. As the event wraps up at about 12.30pm, all students are expected to return to school to complete the day as normal.
Sacramental Programs Information Night
The first session for our parish was held last night. Parents are reminded that if their child wishes to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation this year, one parent needs to have attended this information evening. A repeat session will be held at 7pm tomorrow night (Thursday) in the church.
YEAR OF ST JOSEPH REFLECTION
By Sr. Kerry Gardiner (Sisters of St Joseph’s-Immaculate Conception Church, Unanderra)
The Universal Church celebrates the Feast of St Joseph on the 19th March. It is easy for us to think piously about St Joseph. May I suggest you listen to this song by Michael Card and think about the questions St Joseph was faced with. No doubt he was confused and concerned. Fr Paul Gurr refers to the connection between Jesus and Jospeh by saying, “ throughout his life he was fathered by a man called Joseph.” I find that gentle and tender.
