Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
First Week of Lent
We begin this season of spiritual renewal, this time of prayer and preparation, turning to the light; journeying to desert places of solitude and silence, to rediscover God’s unconditional love for us, which calls us to mission in the world.
Gracious God, ever true to your covenant, as your Spirit sent Jesus into the wilderness,
so you call us, your people, into the desert of Lent.
Bring us through these forty days in the power of Christ’s victory.
May we be touched again by your call to conversion, and have the strength to put aside
what is not essential in our lives and entrust ourselves completely to you.
We ask this through Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever.
Amen.
Enrol Now for 2021
We are now accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2022. First round applications close at the end of Term 1 - 1 April, 2021.
Open Day for Kinder 2022
Thursday, 4 March
4pm - 6pm
For new families, and the not so new,
come and see what St Therese Catholic School has to offer.
Kiss & Collect
Reminder to parents that it is illegal to cross an unbroken white line and travel up the wrong side of the road. On Monday, there was a near miss when one of our parents was confronted by a vehicle leaving TIGS. Fines will apply if witnessed by Police.
Hair Styles
Just a reminder that our school policy states that girls must have their hair tied back and boys should have an even cut that does not come over their collar. Hair should not be a distraction by constantly falling over the child’s face.
Walking Near Parked Cars
I ask that parents please hold you child’s (children’s) hand when walking near cars - especially on the basketball court or the Presbytery carpark. It also helps if parents reverse park as this is a much safer option.
Building Project
These photos are in response to some parents requesting to see what the finished product will look like. While still early days, all is on schedule at the moment to be completed as early as the end of Term 3.
Catholic Schools Week
This year, Catholic Schools Week (CSW) will be held from 28 February - 6 March. The theme for 2021 is ‘Faith in the Future’. This theme is shared with dioceses across the country as together we celebrate 200 years of Catholic education in Australia.
As we pause this week to reflect on the precious gift of Catholic education, we remember the intergenerational contributions that preceded us and that we continue to build upon. Since the very first Catholic school was established, countless children and young people have benefitted from the dedication and commitment of parents and staff in our Catholic schools.
The week is designed to be a lively celebration and shared with members of our parish and the wider Catholic community—all in a COVIDsafe way. Our school is planning a number of activities that showcase our wonderful learning opportunities and the accomplishments of our students. As Catholic Schools Week is celebrated during the second week of Lent, we will also focus on the ways that our school supports the more vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our wider community.
Listed below is a schedule of events for the week
- Mon, 1 March: Catholic Schools’ Week prayer at morning assembly
- Wed, 3 March: Director of Schools - Mr Peter Hill visiting all day
- Wed, 3 March: Catholic Schools’ Week Mass with Fr Duane
- Thurs, 4 March: 4 - 6pm Open day for Kinders 2022
- Merit Awards around the theme of Catholic Schools Week
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to seeing you during Catholic Schools Week 2021.
