Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
We are now into our third week of Spring and we have been truly Blessed by sensational weather. With this comes a lightening of the mood around us imposed by the terrible effects of Covid-19 and before the that, the devastating bushfires that have impacted our region. This time of year is an awakening from the gloom of Winter to the endless possibilities of Summer.
At St Therese we are experiencing our own awakening with our building project taking at big step forward today. With this awakening comes a period of reflecting and tidying up which is happening in all classes, especially Years 3 – 6. This exercise is very cathartic and good for the soul.

Congratulations Mary-Anne Townsend
Interviews for the advertised position of School Support Officer – Clerical were held last week. Mary-Anne was the very well deserved successful applicant. Mary-Anne’s role will now be split between supporting Louise in the office and looking after technology across the school. Mary-Anne’s classroom hours will now be reallocated until the end of the year.
Principal Appraisal
A link to a survey for parents was sent two weeks ago. Closing date for responses to be submitted is Friday, 25 September. I encourage all parents to complete the survey with results being collated at the Catholic Education Office.
As part of the Principal Appraisal process, a group of up to 12 parents are invited to talk to the Appraisal Panel on Wednesday, 21 October between 1.30 and 2pm. If you are available and would like to be part of this group, could you please leave your name with Louise in the school office.
Uniform Transition
As the weather is starting to warm up, albeit a little inconsistently, the rest of the term will be a transition time moving from Winter to Summer uniform. Sports days remain the same but on other days, students can choose whether to wear Winter or Summer uniform. We ask that whichever is chosen, the full uniform be worn not bits and pieces of both.
School Photos
Photos for 2020 were originally planned for earlier in the year with students in Winter uniform. As we are now in a transition stage, a decision will be made as to which uniform the students need to wear as we get closer to the photo day – all will depend on the weather and we do need all students presenting in the same uniform.
Building Works
Today was met with great excitement as students arrived to see a 100 000kg crane come onsite and then throughout the day, the first of the demountable classrooms being moved into place. This exercise will be repeated again next week and then finalised during the holidays. At this stage, we don’t have a specific date but it is envisaged that Years 4, 5 and 6 will move into the demountables in early to mid November. Year 2 will move into the library and Year 3 will move to the Year 2 classrooms. A more detailed update will be provided at the next P & F Meeting on October 20.

September = Fruit & Veg Month
A great opportunity to introduce children to new, healthy foods. Visit the Fruit & Veg Month website for lots of creative ideas.
When was the last time you checked what your child was doing will online? Who have they been messaging? How have they been communicating?
This is not an invasion of their privacy, this is parenting.
The best of children can be swayed and tempted and it is our job as parents to guide them and keep them safe.School Birthdays
