PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - MR STEVE THORNE
Newsletter Week 9
Season of Creation
A sleeping world emerges to new possibilities,
weakening winter's icy grip,
and birdsong and bleating lamb
announce to all the promise
that in due season
creation bursts into life.
And whilst leaves that fell in winter
lie upon the ground,
soon to feed the earth,
in nature's wondrous cycle
of death and rebirth,
within the tree is a stirring of new growth.
Thank you, Lord, for the hope that you bring,
the renewal that you bring,
both to this world and to our hearts and lives.
Staff Development Days
Reminder that the following days are Pupil Free Days:
- Friday, 27 September (last day Term 3)
- Monday, 14 October (first day Term 4)
Sun Safety - No Hat No Play
As part of our School Sun Safe Policy, all children are required to wear their school hat while outside. This is especially important on Sports days and excursions. During recess and lunch, children without hats will be asked to stay in shaded areas. Please check that your child’s name is clearly written on their hat (names do wear off over time).
Emails to Staff
All emails to staff should be directed through the school email address: info@stwwdow.catholic.edu.au
Teachers rarely check emails throughout the day and things may be missed. However the school email is regularly checked every day by Louise or Mary-Anne. Urgent matters can quickly be addressed while other matters will be forwarded to the relevant staff member.
Personalised Planning Meetings
Thank you to all our parents/carers and students who attended our Personalised Planning Meetings this term. Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW) is redeveloping the Personalised Planning Tool for Students with Disability (PPSD). Teachers are undergoing training modules which will provide an excellent overview of the new and improved aspects. We will keep you informed when the Personalised Plan will be available and sent electronically via COMPASS. Please feel free to contact your class teacher for ongoing reviewing and monitoring.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Dimitra Vezinias and Mrs Amy Runko

Catholic Mission Month Launch-Socktober
Last Thursday, September 12th, Phoebe and Christina accompanied Mrs Runko to St Michael’s at Thirroul for the launch of Catholic Mission Month. Bishop Brian Mascord addressed the need to spread the Good News of Christ and be driven to reach out in acts of service to others. Our Mini Vinnies and Year 6 leaders look forward to organising some exciting fundraising ideas.
What is Socktober?
Socktober for Mission Month cultivates students' passion for rising up, engaging their local community, and taking action against poverty through the world game of soccer. It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help but also of why they will do it. In 2024, Socktober will be fundraising for Project Mongolia.
