PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - MR STEVE THORNE
Newsletter Week 4
Saint Mary Mackillop
Feast Day
8 August
Ever-generous God,
You inspired St Mary MacKillop
to live her life faithful
to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and constant in bringing hope
and encouragement
to those who were disheartened, lonely, or needy.
We ask that our faith and hope
be fired afresh by the Holy Spirit so that we too,
like Mary MacKillop, may live with courage,
trust, and openness.
Ever-generous God, hear our prayer.
We ask this through Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Congratulations to our School Athletics Squad
Yesterday, 32 students represented our school at the Coastal Region Athletics at Beaton Park.
Congratulations to the following students who will attend the Diocesan Athletics time trials next Tuesday:
- Asher F - 100m, 200m, High Jump
- Hunter P - Shotput
- Jessica McL - Discus
Thank you to Ms Pellizzari and Miss Mangos for taking on the role of Team Managers and organising the students throughout the day.
Parish Mass
Fr Duane has requested that both Year 3 & 4 attend the Parish Mass this Friday instead of Year 3 attending on the 18th (Fr Duane has a funeral at this time).
Book Week Celebration
As previously notified, this has been moved to Friday, 25 August. Parents are invited to the character parade at 9.30am and/or the Dewey Awards at 1.30pm.
Fathers’ Day Sausage Sizzle & Blessing
After missing a few years, we are now able to bring back the popular sausage sizzle. This will be held on Thursday, 31 August from 7.30am. We will have a special blessing for all fathers and father figures at our morning assembly and then invite the fathers into classrooms to share some of the children’s learning.
Grandparents’ Liturgy
All grandparents are invited to attend our special liturgy on Thursday, 21 September (Week 10) in the church. This is an opportunity to welcome grandparents into our school and to acknowledge the important role they play in the development of children.
End of Term Awards
This assembly will be held on Thursday, 21 September at 12pm in the hall (after the grandparents’ liturgy). This is a change to our usual format of having the awards on the last day however having two events in two days may prove more difficult for families to arrange.
Winter Uniform
The weather lately has seen some unusually warm days right down to quite cold. Despite this, we are still in Winter uniform which will get reassessed in September. Many students prefer the Summer uniform however I do ask for parental support in this. Winter uniform does require shirts tucked in with ties.
LOWES
We have been advised that LOWES will be increasing uniform costs from Term 4. This is a direct result of higher costs being incurred from the manufacturing and transport costs.

"Take It Down" Platform - Preventing the Unwanted Spread of Intimate Child Images Online.
A powerful new tool has emerged to safeguard the online privacy of young people who have unwillingly or unknowingly shared intimate images or videos of themselves with malicious recipients.
The Take It Down platform empowers individuals under the age of 18, regardless of their location, to remove or prevent the online sharing of nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images or videos taken of them.
This service is provided anonymously and does not require the uploading of any images or videos to the platform's system.
Take It Down sends a unique fingerprint of the intimate content to their participating social media/content distribution platforms who use the fingerprint to block the content.
The participating platforms include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pornhub, OnlyFans, Clips4Sale and Yubo.
Instances of image-based abuse can also be reported to eSafety or the police.
Please feel free to share this information with your school community and through your newsletter.
