PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - MR STEVE THORNE
Newsletter Week 1
WELCOME BACK TO TERM 2
Resurrection Prayer
O Risen Lord,
the Way, the Truth, and the Life,
Make us faithful followers of the spirit of Your Resurrection.
Grant that we may be inwardly renewed,
dying to ourselves in order that You may live in us.
May our lives serve as signs of the transforming power of Your love.
Use us as Your instruments for the renewal of society,
bringing Your life and love to all,
and leading them to Your Church.
This we ask of You, Lord Jesus,
living and reigning with the Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever.
Amen.
Welcome Back
While it seems Easter was so long ago, this is our first chance to acknowledge this great event as a school community. All grades start the term with a celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Mention of this occurred at our first assembly this morning.
Once again it was lovely greeting the children as they wandered into school this morning. So many excited, smiling faces along with the odd yawn or frown!! As teachers and support staff working in primary schools, we are blessed to be able to work with such wonderful children. Their smiles are certainly uplifting, no matter what we may be feeling inside!
Needless to say, we have another busy term ahead starting with School Photos tomorrow.

Staff Change
Congratulations Mrs Staff on her appointment to the role of Instructional Coach for St Therese. Added to her role as Middle Leader, this will mean that Trish will support teacher development across the school as well as performing leadership roles.
Due to this change, Year 2 Blue will now be taught by Mrs Stephanie Milner 4 days per week with Mrs Diann Sharman taking the class on Thursdays.
ANZAC Remembrance
At 11.30am today, Year 5 led us in a beautiful ANZAC remembrance ceremony. This was particularly moving considering they only had this morning to prepare. Thank you to Mrs Calvert for having everything ready to go.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CARERS
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Funeral Friday
A funeral has been booked for this Friday in the church followed by a gathering in the Parish Centre. Therefore there will be NO PARKING in the church groundson Friday afternoon.
Diocesan Cross Country
The school squad will travel to Nowra next Tuesday to represent our school. This is a very challenging sport but one that has a lot of benefits in terms of fitness, stamina and commitment. We wish all the students well and look forward to hearing the results when they return.
Changes to English and Mathematics K-2 Curriculum
Curriculum is at the core of quality teaching and learning. It is important to communicate with parents, carers and the community about the teaching and learning that is happening in your school. This engagement will assist schools in identifying strategic directions, decide on improvement measures and assess their progress which can lead to improved learning outcomes for students.
What is curriculum?
The curriculum is a plan for learning based on mandated and approved syllabus documents and current departmental policies and procedures.
The NSW curriculum refers to the suite of resources that are the syllabuses and the support resources to support teachers to implement the syllabuses. This includes, but is not limited to, resources including teaching and learning advice, assessment resources, and syllabus-specific materials including scope and sequences, units of work, standards materials and work samples.
What is curriculum reform?
The NSW Curriculum Reform aims to strengthen and streamline what is taught in schools. The curriculum reform is an opportunity to engage and re energise what we teach and how we teach it. It focuses on making clear what is essential in the curriculum to give more time for deep learning, establish stronger foundations in English and mathematics, and provide stronger links between HSC subjects and career pathways.
English and Mathematics
In 2023 new Syllabus documents in English and Mathematics are being implemented in schools in Kindergarten through to Year 2.
The new syllabuses emphasise key concepts, identify essential knowledge and skills, and include new outcomes to clearly show what is essential. They remove ambiguity for all users. Clear and concise language in the outcomes and content help you to understand the learning expectations for building foundational skills in English and Mathematics. The new Digital Curriculum means the syllabuses will be easier to access and navigate, so users can find information more efficiently. Access content points are provided to indicate content that students with significant intellectual disability may access. Teaching samples and examples are easy to find and use. Teaching advice is a supporting guide that was refined through engagement and consultation activities with teachers.
Staff Planning Days
School Photos
Summer uniform to be worn by all students tomorrow. School photos should capture student appearance as they attend school each day. Girls’ hair should be tied back and there is to be no make-up.

All children are to come to school in correct FULL SUMMER uniform. Hair decorations are not permitted and ribbons/scrunchies are to be in toning with the uniform i.e. browns and yellows.
‘The School Photographer’ will be the photographer again this year. This year, we have gone to a total DIGITAL ORDERING SYSTEM.
ALL photos will still be sent to the school as per previous years. This is replacing the envelope system.
All photo orders are to be paid and ordered via the attached QR code using CODE:

- You will then be directed to the secure online ordering portal entering the code noted above.
