Blessing & Opening
This Friday will be a memorable occasion in the life of our school. Over 30 invited guests have accepted the invitation to attend as well as the open invitation for parents and carers to attend also. The church car park will be reserved for invited guests. Parent parking will be available on the basketball court, presbytery car park or street parking. Seating for parents will be available on the green chairs set up at the library end of the synthetic grass. All students are asked to wear their full Summer uniform on Friday.
First Communion
The Sacrament of Eucharist will be celebrated next Tuesday and Thursday evening starting at 6pm. The change to having this sacrament mid week was instigated by Fr Duane. As a Catholic community, I ask that you keep these children and their families in your prayers as they take a significant step in their faith journey. Thank you to the students in other grades who have volunteered to join a choir to make this a very special event for the children involved.
Removal of Demountables
Finally scheduled for next Wednesday, 23 Nov to Saturday, 26 November. This exercise will have very little impact on school routines but may result in additional movement of trucks around the school. Safety of our students is always our priority but we ask parents / carers to be extra vigilant when using Powell St.
Semester 2 Reports
Semester 2 Reports will be available to parents via Compass on Wednesday, 14 December. Year 6 Parents are reminded to print the school report when they are distributed on Wednesday 8 December. This is particularly important if your child is not attending a Wollongong Diocesan systemic high school, such as Holy Spirit College, as your access to your child’s Compass profile will cease upon completion of primary school.
Christmas cards
As this term progresses the children will become excited about the approaching Christmas season. It is very important that the children remain focused and settled throughout Term 4. When the children begin to bring Christmas cards, candy canes and the like to school too early, they tend to ‘tune out’. It is for this reason, and the fact that waiting is a part of our Catholic Christian tradition with the season of Advent, we ask that students don’t bring Christmas cards, etc for their classmates until the beginning of December.
Please begin to speak to your children about appreciating the card, gift or candy cane that they receive no matter who it is from and that when they give something they shouldn’t always expect something in return.
Kiss & Collect
Gates to the presbytery car park are opened at 2.45pm. Any vehicle stopped on the road before this time can be booked by police or council rangers. For quite a while, this has been working well however, more recently parents / carers have been arriving from as early as 2pm. This does cause issues with local residents and impacts negatively on the school.
BEFORE School Care Survey
A link to this very short survey was sent out last week to all parents. Thank you for the responses received so far however we still need more families to make use of this Catholic Care service. Before school care offers much easier drop off, no worries about organising breakfasts, stress free drive to work or possibility of a quiet coffee before other commitments. Survey will close tomorrow.
