PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - MR STEVE THORNE
Newsletter Week 3
Pope Francis' Mission Prayer
Heavenly Father,
when your only begotten Son Jesus Christ
rose from the dead,
he commissioned his followers
to “go and make disciples of all nations”
and you remind us that through our Baptism
we are made sharers in the mission of the Church.
Empower us by the gifts of the Holy Spirit
to be courageous and zealous
in bearing witness to the Gospel,
so that the mission entrusted to the Church,
which is still very far from completion,
may find new and efficacious expressions
that bring life and light to the world.
Help us make it possible for all peoples
to experience the saving love
and mercy of Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Staff Development (Pupil Free) Day
As previously notified, Monday, 7 November is a Staff Development Day focusing on developing an Agreed Practice for all teachers during a Literacy Block. While this day may not be ideal for parents, we are restricted to days when we are able to get the presenters for staff professional development.
Classes 2023
As usual at this time of the year, parents are invited to communicate with me if they have any concerns regarding their child’s learning in 2023. This is not an opportunity to pick and choose your child’s teacher but a time where you can let me know about your child’s learning style, friendship issues, etc. Ultimately there are many variables which impact class placement and we can only split students into one of two classes. While I will take onboard parental concerns, I cannot guarantee all requests will be met. Communication from parents must be received by Friday, 4 November.
Ariella's thoughts on the new classrooms for the newsletter:
"We have flexible seating, like the wobble stools, whiteboard tables and high chairs which helps to enhance a lot of people's learning. Some people like to sit on the floor. Mrs Milner and Mrs Sharman let us sit wherever we like to help us to learn."
ATTENDANCE
Congratulations Aiden P-I (6B) and Genova D (5B) - Double Winners!!!
Congratulations Amari F, Indee V E, Jessica M & Jagg
Last weekend the girls’ netball team competed in their first Grand Final. After being 3 goals down at half time, the girls fought back to win by a goal in extra time. Obviously an extremely close match where the girls showed great spirit and sportsmanship. Well done!!
YEAR 2 EXCURSION
On Thursday, the 20th October, 2022, both Year Two classes went on an excursion to the Early Start Discovery Centre at Wollongong University.
We went to use our science skills and gain more knowledge. There were many hands-on activities, which we could experience. We explored how to design and make a boat out of Lego, so that it could float.
Year Two had an AMAZING time at The Early Start Discovery Centre.

Mission Month
CRAZY SOCK DAY THURSDAY 27th OCTOBER
This year we will be having a crazy sock day and soccer goal kicking competition on Thursday, 27th Oct. Students will donate a gold coin to raise money for Catholic Missions. We are raising money to support families in Ethiopia who are facing malnutrition and food insecurity.
Your support as a Socktober Star is essential to the success of Father Habte and the local Church's mission in Emdibir, Ethiopia. With the crucial funds we can raise together by kicking our goals and sharing this good news story, the local Church in Emdibir can help families such as Neela and Omari's to secure their future and that of their children. (Assembly Week 1 at school)
