Principal's Message - Mr Steve Thorne
Newsletter Week 6
Vision Statement - “… excellence in learning …”
At St Therese, we have been working hard to achieve the best learning outcomes for all of our students.Over the past 3 years, teachers have been engaged in professional learning in the areas of Reading and Writing. Teachers have been challenged in their thinking and teaching practice (pedagogy) as well as building consensus on how best to run the literacy block each day. Next year, a similar process will be implemented with the focus being on Numeracy.
All teachers have participated in professional development to support the release of the new K - Yr 2 English and Maths Syllabus documents being implemented in 2023. These documents will extend through to Year 10 in 2024. Our School Support Officers have participated in professional development to upskill them in supporting student learning predominantly in Literacy. This PD has involved courses, external mentors and inschool support.
Our new learning spaces for Years 3 - 6 will generate options that staff at St Therese have not had before. A great deal of collaboration has taken place, and will continue to take place into the future, to ensure teachers and support staff are working together effectively to ensure improved student learning outcomes.
Staff Spirituality Day - Monday, 5 September
This day will be held off-site so school will remain closed all day.

Congratulations Fabian (6G)
Last week, Fabian travelled to Griffith to take part in the PSSA State Football Championships. After a few gruelling days, Fabian’s team (Mackillop) won the Grand Final and were declared the best school boys team in NSW!
On top of this success, Fabian was then named in the NSW team to compete in the National Championships in Perth next term. Obviously this is a huge achievement for a very unassuming student. We wish Fabian all the very best for his football as his own season draws to an end and as he prepares for his well earned trip to Perth!

Please sign in at the office and come around to the Year 2 rooms. Thank you in advance for your support.
WONDER RECYCLING REWARDS
Once again this year we will be participating in the Wonder Recycling Rewards for Schools initiative.
The Wonder Recycling Rewards programme is a fun and easy program created to collect and recycle soft plastics and bread tags that might otherwise go to landfill, and earn rewards points to redeem on new sports equipment for our school.
Once collected they can be placed in the special collection box in the Library (Year 3 classrooms)
